Sometimes it gets really exciting and I wake up to find out that the reading for that day totally hits the spot and is aimed specifically towards something I'm struggling with at the moment or something major that is currently happening in my life. As you read your Bible and pray, listen to what God has to say to you about His will for your life. There is some great stuff in this devotional, but I must say I do not look forward to reading it everyday. What I like best is that it is a journal as well as a devotional. So wala naman palang problema.

I do try to update it as much as possible. I am about halfway through this devotional. He has notably published many spiritual books.

If anything it has taught me to question what religious leaders say and to make my own opinions about what I believe is true. I studied the Experiencing God small group study book around 20 years ago after hearing Henry Blackaby speak at a Promise Keepers event. Richard Blackaby is president of Blackaby Ministries International as well as the Chancellor of the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary.

Highly recommend this book for anyone from teens upwards including new believers. For the first time the disciples used Scripture as their guide in decision making Acts 1:15—26. I don't want to discourage anyone, but this just wasn't a hit with me. He holds degrees from the University of Saskatchewan, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Dallas Baptist University. For longer times, it offers no Scripture reading.

Life's Seasons

Although all daily devotionals seem to focus on one verse at the start of the study, you must not just stop with that one verse. I read several daily devotionals this year, as well as read the entire bible using a chronological edition. As a pastor, I aspire to be such a man as well. I just received this devotional in the mail. The content is excellent and thought provoking and I would highly recommend it. He was also managing editor and contributing author for The Blackaby Study Bible.

It has only one Bible verse per devotion, and the devotions are short. The authors wrote their Experiencing God book and Bible Study prior to writing these devotionals. A friend commented that this was her favorite devotional, and that encouraged me to buy a copy. The readings are filled with truths gleaned from the Blackabys' writing and ministry, and written with characteristic grace and spiritual insight. I decided for 2000 to buy everyone another devotional that we could read corporately. He has served as a music director, education director, and pastor in churches in California and Canada, as well as president of Canadian Baptist Theological College for seven years and president of the Canadian Southern Baptist Conference.
